Irrungadji

The Irrungadji Aboriginal community is located at the outskirts of Nullagine, Western Australia.

In 2005 we were given rare access to the community. We were allowed to hand out cameras and invite young aboriginal students to take images of what is important to them. The result is a series of beautiful and astounding images of life in the Irrungadji Aboriginal community.

The pictures were shown at Regional Art Gallery in Geraldton, PCP in Perth and at the Qfest Festival held in the abandoned outback mining town of Cue, Western Australia. It was here that the students came to see their work displayed.

The project was conducted under the auspices of the Indigenous Elders. Curated with Justin Spiers & Mark Roy Coddington.
